Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

Nice jacket. There some wok on the back. But, It is too bad about the belt loop and the zipper hack job. Sleeves, lack the details of this older Cal. At 23" I can rock this thing no problem. Such a nice jacket. Did not get the quality repairs it deserved.

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Thanks for the information. The jacket is expensive but some people do like it. I have a HD museum repro made about 20 years ago using the same pattern. I paid about 700 USD I think. Not in the level of craftmanship as your jacket but not bad either. I think it could have been made by...

Doubts about authenticity of Real McCoy's Buco J100.

    AERO's undersized zips

Very well written. I like Universal because they are well made. Riri is the top producer of zippers in the world. They still produce quality items just like they did in the past. Thedi does include top of the line zippers in their garments. However, I wonder why the rest of the top...

    Rough-In motorcycle jacket

Look at the 50's sear catalog. Perhaps T can help you out with the year? Very smart for you to replace the one side of the zip. I do have some complete zips. Good luck with your restoration. Finally, this zip job is something YOU can do. No machine needed. If you need help in the...

    AERO's undersized zips

Aero uses low quality zippers. That is the bottom line. Most zippers in the old days where #5. They worked great for many years. #5 zippers can handle most leathers even the heavy ones. It is not manly the # of the zipper but the quality. Back in the day, #10 and #8 existed. I have...

    Shops in Mexico DF?¿

Mexico does not have a market for vintage jackets. There are collectors but most of them get them from Ebay. Sadly, Mexico had many talented leather jacket makers. This is not the case anymore. Even the most needed shoe cobbler industry is dying. However, the are many leather tanneries...

Questions about a thrifted 50s (?) 613HH Perfecto I picked up a few weeks back.

Friend, do not do a full zip restore. Just do the male pin side. I have the matching side for that jacket. Those were very nice zips. There are many post regarding conditioning the teeth in this forum. Good luck with the project. By the way, You can do the zipper yourself. It is not...
