Review of my new custom Thedi Cossack

I think it's a great fit, i also think you have slightly denatured the jacket by making it that tight at the waist and making the side straps purely decorative. It gives it a LL Dominator vibe from the back. I like the traditional look of the crumpled sides on a Campus style jacket... It's still...

Why do thick leathers keep getting recommended?

That's so fake, are you even a real electrician?

    689HH break in process.

You can see the fraying is about to get worst on either side of the hole, the fabric has been stretched to crap. Have you been doing pushups in your leather jacket or crazy things like that?

Schott 688, 557, Aero Seven fit checks

Will your new jacket ever look vintage?

I think you are conflating vintage and heavily worn. To me vintage means "old", it has nothing to do with how beat up the item is. If i could find vintage jackets that fit me i would buy them, but i would still favour clean/unworn examples over a beat up one. In 100 years, all my jackets will be...

Personalizing a jacket - patches and pins

I feel the same way, i undestand having one jacket that morphs into a patched and pinned beast over years of riding and living, but things cross into the fancy dress costum pretty fast. To me all these dudes don't look cool, they look like they are going to a themed party.

New to leather jackets — fit/style questions

Don't forget that different jackets have different functions and that affects the fit and measurements. I would want a cafe racer to be quit tight in the body with roomy biceps area as to not impeed forward reach on a bike, expecting to mostly wear it with a T shirt. On the other hand i would...

Lost Worlds Buco Rider sizing question

I have never used the gusset pocket, it doesn't really make any sens as a pocket. The front "sandwich pocket" (TM pending) is a super convenient pocket, it fits a full baguette, a bottle of wine, anything. Be aware that the handwarmers and patch pockets are pretty much useless, they are too far...

Lost Worlds Buco Rider sizing question

Size 42. Measurements should be my usual, 22.5-23" chest, 25.5" back and arms and 20.5-21" bottom hem, that's what Stuart did for all my customs.

Lost Worlds Buco Rider sizing question

I did use all caps to imply it was a larger than usual bunch. Not a mere capitalised Bunch!

Doubts about authenticity of Real McCoy's Buco J100.

Everything about it looks correct to me... https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/the-real-mccoy%E2%80%99s-j-100-fit-comparison-between-the-old-model-bj9110-and-new-model-bj19110.112875/ If the jacket has been worn and spent a few years in a closet i wouldn't be surprised if it didn't smell...

Lost Worlds Buco Rider sizing question

I have a BUNCH of LW jackets, the Buco rider is one that sizes larger than others. I would recommend sizing down on the Buco rider compared to the J-23, the Leathertogs etc. All my Vanson are size 42 and my size 42 Buco Rider is slightly larger than they are. I wear most of my LW jackets in size...

    Biker jacket cleaning

+1 Laundry detergent is a bad idea, it works by breaking down protein and oils, and leather i basically proteins that are kept supple by oils and waxes... If you want to use a detergent use something that is designed for wool as it will be gentler on the leather. (wool is also made from...

Help! Vinegar Spots from Smoke Treatment

Yep, if you live in an area with really hard water i would use distilled water. When i lived in london and did that the tap water was so hard it left a white film behind after drying.

Help! Vinegar Spots from Smoke Treatment

Get a spray bottle, spray the jacket all over and wear it untill dry, repeat a few times. IMO the shower is a bit excessive, you risk soaking the lining and creating more stains. Soaking is not bad, but it's not necessary...

Help! Vinegar Spots from Smoke Treatment

My point was just that the nature of natural leather is that they end up all blotchy when you actually wear them and live with them rather than look at them hanging in a wardrobe. If the OP wears his jacket it will in time end up all blotchy like the one posted in the thread i linked. The neck...

Help! Vinegar Spots from Smoke Treatment

I would just wear the jacket in the rain, you will get randome blotches everywhere once you start wearing it anyway! I would not add more products to it, it's just going to make things worst. Wear it in the rain 10 times and it won't be noticeable anymore. Check out the pics in this thread...
