Why do thick leathers keep getting recommended?

Aero Shackleton Waistcoat, Tobacco Badalassi
That looks cool. I sure as hell couldn't pull off a leather vest. My Bootlegger is Badalassi and the whole thing squeeks even when I dont move and just breathe. My wife constantly asks if something is wrong with the jacket. lol- Faux59

Free warranty repair or exchange versus out of pocket fix later on? I think free warranty wins. Mine didn't come apart after 6 months but I did sell it 6 months in because the leather was way too stiff for my liking and the wind flap drove me nuts.- Faux59

@MrProper thanks for the detailed response! It has a Talon zipper. @jacketjunkie fair point. I didn't order both jackets at the same time for this reason. I figured I could use this Bootlegger to tailor the Highwayman if I got anything wrong.- Faux59

American boot alternatives
I'd put Viberg at the very top. Made in Canada. Oak Street makes a sleek chelsea but their QC is sometimes questionable and the elastic feels cheap compared to that of RM . Grant Stone boots made in China are excellent. Nicks. Carmina are excellent tho made in Spain. What's wrong with...- Faux59

Are shoe trees necessary for dress boots and dress shoes/loafers?
That Jordaan is expensive! I would absolutely put cedar trees in those. The type or style of shoe doesn't matter any. Genuine leather shoes benefit from cedar trees. At least that jacket looks great. My Aero Badalassi should be ready in the next week. Bick 4 is known for not changing the color of leather maybe give that a try but I too would just keep wearing that jacket even around the house until it loosens up.- Faux59

Schott perfecto sizing advice
It looks bulky on you. You could email Schott and ask for the product spec sheet of that jacket to help decide if small is too small. I've done that and it helped me make the right decision twice. Where in Canada are you?- Faux59
