After seeing JanSolo's seal brown goatskin 1930's HB, I knew I had to have one. So, I saved my pennies and placed a down payment with Aero USA......and he promptly went out of business. Seriously, I sent my down payment in 5 days before he closed up shop. PayPal refunded me in full (very quickly, I might add) and Aero - Scotland graciously offered me a great deal. I got the measurements from Amanda and originally ordered a size 38. After about two months, I re-considered and asked for a size 40 instead. I'm a slim 40 anyway, and I do have a size 38 LHB in FQHH and it fits perfectly - but I wanted to make sure I could wear this jacket for years and not get a body hugging jacket that was too small if I put on a few pounds. I used a lot of the specs from JanSolo (slightly longer body, no slope to the front as usual for that jacket, seal goatskin, OD thread, nickel zip) and added a dress Campbell tartan (my last name), 2 piece sleeves (JanSolo recommended that as well) and a "traditional" jacket inner pocket. I knew I probably wasn't going to be able to afford another Aero, so I wanted it to be very diffferent than my LHB w/ alpaca lining. It just arrived yesterday and I wore it for the first time today. I love the fit. It fits well, but has a little extra room for a sweater (or a few extra pounds). It is quite thick, but is more comfortable than the FQHH. It still needs to be worn a bit to loosen up and drape nicely. If you notice: although it is clearly goatskin, it does have the Made of Front Quarter Horsehide label. Not sure I could look any goofier, but here are the pics.

Stunning, I'm not sure I would have sized you any smaller the 40 looks great. Love the scalloped yolk and the trim arms. It's the little details like that that set aero apart from the rest of them. Well done.

Don't think I'd go smaller either. That goat looks great! Man, you got some good stuff for this jacket season(s)! Congrat's. You can go wrong following Jan.

Great looking jacket, so sorry about the error with the tag! Don't know how that slipped by. We don't have any goatskin tags, so we'd advise to just unpick it.

Beautiful jacket. Looks like perfection to me. I think you will enjoy it for a long time to come. I have to admit that I am more than just a bit envious. Wear it in good health and enjoy.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty psyched. It is exactly what I was hoping for. The 2 panel arms are very cool. The thickness of the Aero goatskin just blows me away. I had a Gibson & Barnes goatskin jacket and it was very nice, but the Aero goatskin seems to be at least twice as thick.

Very nice jacket Grayland!

Tasteful, specially the two panel sleeves makes the jacket look "cleaner" from the back. Sometimes less is more.

I like it but in the interest of full disclosure I just purchased the same jacket in FQHH in Black, so I'm biased. Your fit seems great.

GREAT jacket! I'm glad that everything turned out so well. Except for the FQHH label the jacket looks perfect. The fit is exactly how it should be. The label could be easily removed if you desire to do so...
The leather looks nice and thick. I love the two piece sleeves which really help to give the jacket a more refined and streamlined look. It's a rare thing that first time customers get exactly the jacket they want but yours is perfect!

You can go wrong following Jan.

Why? What have I done to you? :(

Jan, you may already know this, and I'm sure Butte will come on and speak for himself, but I'm sure he meant to put an apostrophe and t on the end of can. I read it, and didn't even notice the typo.

+1 It's funny how our eyes can play tricks like that (because the sentence doesn't really make sense as written, I read it to be "can't" as well). But, on a personal note, JanSolo has cost me some serious cash as I have tried to replicate his amazing designs. Now I have Ishmael opening me up to a new world of Japanese makers at an even higher price point (college? who needs college? my kids can fend for themselves....).

Jacket looks great. It is a looser fit than we usually see in that particular cut, but it doesn't look at all "wrong". Actually, it looks like it has a similar fit to a 50s Halfbelt, except with the Thirties Halfbelt detailing, if you follow. I do like Aero's goat - I wish it was available in black.

It is a little looser than is usual for this jacket, but I wouldn't change it. I had the opportunity to try on a size 38 and it was just too tight. It was quite trim in the shoulders and especially in the forearms. I could wear it and I'm sure it would've loosened up with wear, but I really was thinking 10 years down the road. I'm 48 and in great shape for my age, but it's doubtful I'll lose weight as I age. It doesn't usually work that way, does it?:D
