Bates jackets on the 'bay are going for upwards of 300 bucks and usually more like 500. Looks like they have been well and truly discovered....

Good luck and let us know how you get on. Remember, If you buy something and there are no pictures that means it didn't happen!
Rolando_ol, I would advise you to buy Gibson&Barnes Raider ($408 for a new jacket). It looks good and is comfortable (my personal experience).

I wear 48R suits. The Raider of this size fits me perfectly. You can write or call them to find out exactly what size fits you best.how does it fit? do you have any pictures of it?
None my size unfortunately, but thanks! There are a few Raiders on eBay as we speak. Type in "Gibson barnes". I think there are also a few on their clearance page.
Maybe later. If I can be so bold, can you post a few while wearing them so I can tell the fit?
I have my dads Old 50 year old cowhide flight jacket to wear that is amazing patina and sqeeks like crazy. Can't wear it at work because it's brown. So I'm waiting for this super distressed black Oakton jacket now. I fly big junky cargo planes and going for the One Flew Over the Coocoo nest look.Is it OK to mention brands to perhaps avoid? I'd bought and sold stuff on ebay for a long time,
but I sure had a lot to learn when I decided that I wanted a few leather jackets. And while I'd love an Aero,
my financial situation dictates that I must content myself with other brands. I had to learn a lot about how
stuff is sized, and exactly what measurements I need - but then I found that even a jacket that fits, if it's a poor
grade of leather, I am not interested. Particularly since now I gotta resell the thing, probably for less than I
paid and plus fees. I'm a lot more selective now.
Along those lines, I was real disappointed with an Oakton (cheap stiff leather), a Cooper (commercial Cooper), Sears
The Leather Shop (Argentiana leather). I also didn't have much luck with military Coopers - the old ones are really
short and the new one I got felt like it was made from paper. I was, however, pleased with a Reed Sportswear I got for
short money - it's Korea, but it's not bad really. Lastly, while not HH and certainly not authentic, LL Beans on ebay are
a target-rich environment. I found one that is literally a perfect fit and am content with that for now, while I save up to
have something custom made.
Anyways, just my opinion. It's better to pass on something questionable than to be stuck with it!
