I now have 4 Akubras and the first three were very consistent. I ordered a Leisure Time in Regency Fawn for my husband and it is way off. The 57 fits almost like a 59 or maybe larger. I can stick my thumb in the gap. Not sure what to do with it except foam it all around..
Well, I dug through my box and found some vintage 1" "Redwood" colored ribbon that I like. It is a little more brown and not quite as bright red in person, rather than what the pictures show. Unfortunately it is the Petersham style ribbon, but I doubt anyone around here will know the difference, or care if they did. I wanted to try my hand at a "frayed edge" bow that I have seen several times on here while I was tinkering with this ribbon, so here's how it turned out:
Not too bad, I don't think, for a hundred-dollar hat, and a little time and handwork.
Y'all take care,
Regan
Not yet, it was purchased from Everything Australian. They also didn't send foam spacers like David Morgan and Hats by the Hundred, which I had expected.Have you brought this situation to the seller? What is their response?
I've ordered three hats from EA,and never received the foam either. They might if you asked, I don't know. Not yet, it was purchased from Everything Australian. They also didn't send foam spacers like David Morgan and Hats by the Hundred, which I had expected.

Same here; have always bout my correct size with no problems.Order your size. I have five Akubras and they all came in just a bit big, perhaps the CD's more so than the Fed IV's. They are made with the understanding that they're going to shrink a bit. All of mine now fit just fine. They know their business.
Order your size.
I just did. Thanks.
Glad to hear it. Buying any kind of clothing over the internet forces you to find out your exact measurements in a way you never had to when you could just try things on, and it's also forced me to acquire tools I never needed before: I now have, in addition to my hat stretcher, a pants' waistband stretcher to use when washing jeans that I don't want to shrink or if I've gained an inch around the middle. Anyway, now that you know your hat size You're all set. Enjoy your hats.Received the hat and it the correct size for me. Now I learn that my head shape is a long oval. Since this is my first sized hat it is news to me. Hat stretcher is already ordered and on the way.
That was my experience too, I suggest steam as you pull the length into it, and don't be discouraged if the brim gets distorted. Use steam and work the brim into shape, you'll see how as you go. I didn't use a stretcher, just held it over a large pot with a little boiling water in it, bathed it in steam while pulling front and back. Maybe the stretcher will work better than pulling the shape into it.Received the hat and it the correct size for me. Now I learn that my head shape is a long oval. Everything Australian would normally be my first choice. I've received excellent service from them, and even including shipping costs their prices are usually lower than every other vendor. The downside is that if they don't have the hat (in the size and color) you want in stock they'll have to order it from Akubra, and your wife might have to wait two to three months while Akubra makes her hat.Received my new hat stretcher. With some help from a very patient John at David Morgan got my hat to fit my long oval noggin. Love the hat. So does my wife. In fact, she likes it so much that she wants her own Akubra. Trouble is she wants the Leisure Time. David Morgan does not appear to stock it. What is the best way to get one of these? That is, what vendor can you recommend?
Well it looks like I am really having to wait. EA confirmed ships in 1 to 2 weeks when I ordered at the beginning of the month. Then was told there is a further 2 week delay then 3 days later told that there is another 3 to 4 week delay. Their communication has been very good but really annoying about the continually moving ship date. They also charge your card at time of order not at time of shipping.
