I think the unit (AVG) had already painted the shark mouths on the planes when the Chinese named them the Flying Tigers after one of the squadron's first missions. Until I learned this I used to wonder why they were called the Flying Tigers but had sharks' mouths painted on the planes.

I've been wondering this too. So far it hasn't been too much of a problem for me since I don't have that many hats. My method is to match the hat to whatever article of clothing I'll be wearing most while I have on a hat. For example, if I'll be outside and wearing a jacket or coat I'll match...
Thanks oldskool! I was talking about the Catholic church's stance on Freemasonry (unless it's changed since I last researched it, the Church is still opposed). I didn't know that there may some opposition coming from the Masonic end depending on the particular lodge.
I couldn't have said it better myself! Hopefully this trend is reversing.
As far as I know the rule still applies that Catholics are not supposed to pursue Freemasonry. As a Catholic convert I was a little disappointed to learn this since my grandfather was a Mason and I was intrigued...
and now I wish I hadn't. It didn't appear dirty to begin with but there were two semi-circle spots around the tack stiches on the grosgrain ribbon that I was trying to to get out. I tried a cotton swab with alcohol first to no avail then I tried the wetting the whole ribbon trick - that didn't...
deanglen picked up a couple of hats at BCF for me, one is a Huckel and one is the Adams and Spire he mentioned. Just like he said, the Adams and Spire is nice but not quite as nice as the Huckel. The felt is a little stiffer and not quite as smooth and no liner. The sweatband is also a little...
This is how I was taught as well (and I've lived in the deep South all my life if that means anything).
My question is how do you pronounce Ms. ? Is it mizz or the same as Miss? In the South Mrs. usually gets pronounced mizz except by those that know better.

I'm the same way Joel. I've even skipped viewing Whippets on OFAS because I assumed they would have the 2 3/4" brim (which is too wide for me). I guess this post proves that wrong!
I appreciate you going back to look for the tan hat for me. I'll pass on the wider brimmed grey one. Keep your eye out for another tan one though, that's the color I'm looking for to wear as my everyday hat.

Thanks! I checked our BCF but they only had one fur felt. It was nice looking (in fact it looked like the hat in your avatar) but it was a large so I didn't get it. Thanks for going to all this trouble to help out fellow Lounge members!
DEANGLEN,
I tried to PM you but for some reason I can't seem to get authorization. I'd be interested in the "M" size tan hat that you found at your BCF as long as it's of the quality that you mentioned with your initial BCF finds and the brim is no wider than 2 1/2". Just let me know the...
