belfastboy, I tried this in the past with a shop that does clothes alterations and they totally botched the black band on a panama hat even though I provided them with the band and all they had to do was stitch it on. People simply do not wear fedora style hats here.

I have owned an Akubra Coober Pedy for about 2 years, and it's a great hat. I wear it both causally and occasionally to work with a navy blazer. I steamed and re-bashed the crown and flattened the brim so that it looks a little more formal.
