"Lindy Hop" on Dancing with the Stars

I live in Germany and have yet to see more than David and Kim's performance. (I watched that since one of my dancing friends in LA was featured in the Jam Circle at Lindy Groove that David and Kim visited.) Now, being a lindy dancer myself and having taught a couple of beginner classes...

MG42 German Machine Gun in Afghanistan

It in fact is a German MG3. It's a great weapon. I used it quite a bit while doing my service in the German army in 1999. It's still in service as far as I know...

    Transmitting your own signal

The AMT3000 indeed is a great possibility... but if I remember correctly, missjoeri (one of the members here and a great source of knowledge) actually DID convert an old radio so she could actually control it using the buttons on her radio... maybe PM her and then post here what she said...

What Do You Think Of This?

Clicking on the image revealed a larger version. It's German and below the suit it says: Supplement to the trade publication "The Tailor", Hannover The elegant clothing 1933 It appears to be the front cover of this supplement and indeed is a beautiful suit. Allbest, Jens

A Monumental Find: 1930s German TV on Film!

Well, she was not - as far as I know - involved directly... but she was producing the famous documentary on the 1936 Olympic games and I remember reading somewhere that she gave some tips to the TV crews as to what to look for, what to film and where to position the cameras during their live...

Fellas who dance, a little help please ;)

There is one lady I regularly dance with who will let you know instantly when she likes a move. Usually by starting to giggle our laughing really hard. It's fun and we tease her about it... Just two weeks ago we had a Lindy workshop with Nick and Carla and everytime they taught something she...

    Hat Stores In Washington DC

That surprises me... Whenever I was there either the owner or his wife where present and very helpful and knowledgable. But, as I said, it has been over two years and things chance. Still, they have quite a selection and if you're in town it's a place I'd check out. Plus, it's in Georgetown, a...

    Hat Stores In Washington DC

There is a very good hat store in "The Shops at Georgetown Park", a mall on M Street in the center of Georgetown. It's called "The Hattery" and I got two hats there while living in DC two years ago. Very nice owner, lots of hats and good customer service...

    Indy's Sequel of Doom

Well, of course it's not realistic to survive a nuclear blast in a fridge... but consider this: In the Fifties (the era in which the newest Indy is set in), the general advice in case of a nuclear attack was "duck and cover". People were supposed to survive by hiding under tables, etc. And...

    FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany-Zeppelin Industry

In September, they will ship it to the US east coast (the Zeppelin ist too small to fly across the Atlantic) and then will fly across the US to its new California home. http://www.airshipventures.com/...

    The Vintage Camera Club Thread

Thanks, Eyemo, I really love to use that stuff, too... It's not like the modern, fully automated stuff, you have to do everything and know what you're doing. Plus, you don't just snap away like you do with digital, because it's a) really expensive and b) a lot of work to change film, etc. :)...

    The Vintage Camera Club Thread

Here is my collection: 1941 Speed Graphic Anniversary Edition. I also have a flash for that one that is not pictured. Yet another 1941 Speed Graphic Anniversary Edition. I use both regularly to take pictures. An Argus C-3 from 1951. Use it rarely but still takes great pictures...

How Vintage Do You Go? -merged thread-

Well, my main phone is a Western Electric 202, my backup phone a German W38 from late 1940's. I do wear 1940's or 1950's suits at least on two or three days a week, never leave my home without a hat or cap (newsboy cap, that is... NOT baseball cap). My furniture is new but I try to buy vintage...

    London Lindy Exchange

I'm not... ...but lots of Munich Lindy Hop folks are going. Being situated in Munich, Germany, and knowing the European Lindy scene, I think it's worth going and its going to be a lot of fun. I wish I were there, but just started a new job and couldn't take off on my third day for that...
