    Great Movie Soundtracks

I'm a big fan of Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, Rozsa, and those have all been mentioned already. One composer I haven't seen yet is Frank De Vol. He scored quite a lot of films, and his music for The Flight of the Phoenix and The Dirty Dozen and Cat Ballou rank very high on my list of favorite...

    Movie Nightmares??

When I was young, the Creeper in "The Pearl of Death" freaked me out. Actually, I seem to remember being scared by some of the other Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes movies too. "The Scarlet Claw" and "Hound of the Baskervilles" come to mind. When I was older, the movies "Alien" and...

Do you have a favorite vintage movie car?

Don't laugh, because it isn't nearly as splendid or glorious as the vehicles shown in this thread, but I always wanted to steal one of the Rat Patrol's army jeeps and go bouncing around in the desert.

Thinking about a tattoo, but is it what good girls did in the 1940's?

I'd say if you're hesitating... hesitate longer. :) I had always wanted a tattoo growing up, but waited until I was in my mid-thirties before I actually got one. At that point I'd found one that I knew I wouldn't regret having afterwards. It's on my lower back and would only show if I...

    WWII Films

Yes indeed! I also enjoy "The Frogmen" -- not a favorite, but really cool diving footage and Richard Widmark playing almost too nice, for a change -- and "The Purple Heart," if for no other reason then to hear Dana Andrews' character's speech at the end. Yep, the very one.

    WWII Films

I think most of the movies I love have already been mentioned - The Dirty Dozen, Where Eagles Dare, Von Ryan's Express, A Walk in the Sun, The Great Escape. I'm also really fond of Attack! with Jack Palance and Lee Marvin (among many others) and Battle Cry, with Van Heflin and Aldo Ray.

Share Your Top Ten Favorite Names.

Hee! This thread has perfect timing, as my sister is due to give birth to her first in less than a month and she and her husband have not settled on any names. I can let her browse these lists, see if something jumps out at her. For me, my favorite names are: Male: Fletcher Eric...

    Christmas Films….

It is too early! LOL! But I can watch We're No Angels any time of the year. Love love love that movie!! "It followed me -- against my will." That movie is way too quotable. "After you, lout." I've recently introduced my sister's kids to this one, and they loved it. They've already...

    NaNoWriMo

Oops! Just found this thread, or I would have jumped in sooner! I'm doing nano again this year. I'm Fencer over there. Working on a fantasy novel that combines an alt. WWII background with magic, and not the Harry Potter kind either. Cruising along so far, a little behind where I should be...

    Handsome Fellas!

Real life has gotten in the way for a few months and I've fallen way behind on keeping up around here, but I love that this thread is still going! I guess we never tire of those attractive men. A guy I love that haven't seen mentioned here is Aldo Ray. Adore him in "Battle Cry," "We're No...
