Truer words were never spoken! I have proven this to myself with hand tools, guns, and leather jackets. In almost every case I went back later and bought the item that I truly coveted from the beginning.
The naked cowhide from Johnson Leather is quite soft and wearable right out of the box. Most of their jackets are made for riding but they can make pretty much anything you might want and in this hide it would probably be in your budget.
Having handled a goatskin Cascade at the Langlitz shop in Portland I can attest that it is an impressive hide. So much so that I almost bought the jacket, even though the arms were at least 2 inches too long for me.
I can’t think of a single time where this has been the case. Everyone who orders a Himel is super stoked on the idea of having a custom (not gonna say bespoke, not gonna go there…) jacket made just for them and they behave accordingly.
having said that your jacket looks amazing and it’s nice to...
Maybe there is some past history here that I missed out on but just from reading this thread it seems like you are taking everything Marc says quite personally and reacting accordingly.
That doesn’t seem warranted here, after all we come here to share our opinions and thoughts and to disagree...
I agree. People who actually work in boots all know about Red Wing (not their Heritage Line, but their true work boots) but that isn’t a very large percentage of the population.
I think White’s Semi Dress deserve a mention if we’re discussing great American boots. I think it strikes the perfect balance between work boot and dress shoe.
