Anybody seen this yet? It's a 10" x 14" porcelain-on-metal Gee Bee Z sign... I still have a few of them left from a project I worked on a couple of years ago. They are listed over on everyone's favorite auction site.
Whoever's in charge of this joint, if I have overstepped my bounds by posting...
This ad is for an honest-to-goodness vintage-style 10" by 14" heavy gauge porcelain enamel sign with brass riveted corners just like from the days before World War 2. I tracked down one of the last porcelain sign manufacturers in the country... and found that they are right here in Cleveland in...
OK!
Just finished sewing these buttons on a new pair of canvas Carhartt work pants. Nothing fancy, but shows you what I do. I like my pants, especially winter work pants, a bit on the loose side, especially if I am wearing long johns, which I do pretty much every day from September until May...
All my pants have suspender buttons sewn into them. Every inside button is sewn through to another button on the outside. I replace every other button on the outside so they all match. Gives a very vintage 1920's/30's look, which is what I am going for. I have been stopped MANY times, often by...

Wow, I have just finished reading the most wonderful book! It's called _Advertising the Model A Ford: A Collector's Guide to Model A Ford Magazine Advertising_, by Jim Thomas. It presents EVERY Model A Ford ad from the late 1920s and early 1930s in gorgeous full color, and with lots of inset...
Hi Guys -
A friend of mine would like to know what kind of watch an aviator would have worn and used during the 1919 - 1939 era. He doubts if a pocket watch would have been an option, but he's not sure about that. Any info on makes and models would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Guys...
Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I couldn't find it anywhere... does anyone have any experience with the USMC replica boots from "WW II Impressions"? (I don't know how to post photos, but if you scroll almost all the way down the page you'll find the description of...
Neat tie photos, guys. Not in a style I would wear, but I can appreciate why others would enjoy them. I too must report sadly that I've had absolutely no luck finding vintage ties worth wearing here in Cleveland, Ohio. While enjoying a year's sabbatical from teaching I would weekly hit all the...
Agreed. But that tie is hideous at any price. Stick with classic patterns like regimental stripes ("reps"), neats, foulards, dots, and clubs and you'll always be in style. There's no place in a gentleman's wardrobe for a foolish tie such as that.

I've been wearing ties daily for nearly 30 years, so I know ties as well as anyone, I'd guess. I have a bunch of them in my closet, and based on my experience with them I have to conclude that while there isn't always a positive correlation between price and quality, there definitely is more...
Hi Folks - I recently purchased Dennis Lively's 2 DVD set entitled "Vintage Fountain Pen Repair" and "Vintage Fountain Pen Repair Vol. 2." If you are interested in repairing old fountain pens, or if like me you just wanted to see how it is done and be able to converse with pen repairmen...
_The Value of a Dollar_...

I am desperately trying to find a sport coat that has unpadded shoulders, preferably in a Harris Tweed. I've been looking at a lot of period photos of men from the 1930s, and their jacket's shoulders often are as rounded as the guys' own shoulders. Today's jackets seem to go straight out from...
