I'm... Not sure how good of a cleaning method this is. Water wasn't brown from dirt but from oils and/or waxes that keep the leather healthy and pliable, that the laundry detergent broke down. Detergents are de-greasers and nothing is worse for leather than having it dry up. Dirt and grime...
