The thing is, it’s just incredibly... cool. It would have fit me better last spring, that’s for sure o_O But it’s always nice to buy something based on photos and a description, and have it actually work for a change!

All the way from Cali, the Cal arrived today. It’s probably the nicest jacket I’ve ever worn - the leather is incredible. It has the outlines of not one but two badge-holders! And it sort of fits me, though I need to shed many Lockdown pounds and the jacket isn’t flattered by what’s wearing it...

Found this on Grailed - bought it, but seller decided not to ship to the UK, so refunded me. It’s disappeared but I expect it will be back . I reckon it’s a Cal-Leathers, made for FirstGear. Damn - it was soooo cheap....

I think it was the stitch holes where the badge holder was removed that got me. Jacket has a story.

Finally found what I desperately hope is the right chp for me: a 1960s Cal-Leather. Should be with me in a couple of weeks, covid and transatlantic mail being what they are!

Talking of Branded, Johnson Leathers (from the opposite coast, I know) get a LOT of love on here. I’ve seen some of their chps pass through these forums, though I’ve noticed that they are usually members’ custom-made jackets. Their resale seems very... reasonable for reputedly monster pieces.

Only the arm length has prevented me from buying this. Jon is a truly helpful chap!

Thanks all. That confirms my misgivings. No cheap fix. Guess I'll hold out for an original Cal-Leather or Taubers.
