Sock Garters. I love them.
Also, it didn't hurt that my girlfriend at the time when I got into them thought they were hot.
Ascots/cravats. Flair... just pure flair.
Loud socks.
Also, I was unaware that bow ties were considered garish until I read that thread you linked to. I wear bow...
I can't find vintage that fits me due to being a person of... ahem... rather large size. However, when I do shop for modern clothes I keep a vintage aesthetic in mind Most people are surprised when I tell them that most of my clothes are modern. So basically, I take modern clothes with a...
On a second look at the second link I posted, they seem to be polyester. They have 100% cotton ones that are similar: http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/mens/mens-pants/work-pants-for-men/20208.aspx

Agreed. It's the right amount of pizazz too; since it has a rather subdued color palette, you can handle the wacky pattern. I like it. Is it vintage or modern?
I would start by going to shorpy and searching "1912" to look at authentic high-res photos of the year: http://www.shorpy.com/search/node/1912
Then I'd try to Google up some advertising of the time period.
