Where do you ladies find good vintage or vintage reproduction fabrics?
I usually search on ebay etc for feed sacks etc which are great for tops, and other than that I usually stumble across things, for basics like Linen and wool and twills/drills it's not too bad but for authentic patterns...
I have a 28"waist and 41" hips and I always buy the 30" waist to get my bum in them... Have LOADS of pairs now I live in them, they are really lovely people too :)
I saw this on here and bought from Eva dress because of your post, made them up last week in navy cotton twill and got loads of compliments at the weekend, have bought some denim and stipe cotton drill to make another couple of the high waisted ones... Really simple to make as well.... :)
Now that is more like it, not exactly but I'm going to have to make it up as I go along but this is definitely similar (abeit modern) version of what I was thinking of.... wanted 3/4 prom dress with this detail in baby blue.... At least it will give the beaders an idea of what I want.
Thanks...
Good, but not what I was thinking :eusa_clap ....
It is darn similar but it is an actual dress, I saw it an an exhibition at the Imperial War Museum back in 1995, but can I find who made it to get a picture to show my dress maker?? Can I diddly!!
Just know someone on here will know which one I am talking about, I cannot find a picture anywhere and I wanted to have the dress re-created for my wedding...
It is a baby blue dress - prom style, but the skirt is made from large beaded 'petals'.... Have a feeling it might be Hartnell but...
If you want drinkies and a Tiki feel go to Trader Vics in the basement of the Hilton hotel, Hyde Park, nearest tube Green Park, or the very posh Mahiki on Dover Street... Might get to see ones of the Royals falling out drunk as they tend to go in there...
For pleasurable non clothes shopping...
I guess you have to get there pretty early for the good stuff, sorry can't help you on that one..... :(
There are loads of interesting pieces though, all pretty classic too, all trousers have unfinished bottoms so easy to alter etc.... prices are reasonable too.
See you there!!
