I'm touring the northeast with my family, visiting friends and relatives, and we're going to the city later this week. I was wondering if anyone could suggest any thrift stores. We'll be staying in park slope (Brooklyn) near where my dad used to live, but will of course be going into Manhattan...
If you don't want to do seersucker, you could find a nice linen suit. They can come in greys and black and blues, but its not a heavy wool suit.

I recently rode my bike home in the rain while wearing a Stetson crushable wool felt fedora, and on the ride it got pretty wet. When i got home i placed it on a table to dry, brim down, and let it sit there until dry. However, after drying it seems to have shrunken a little. The ribbon is loose...
I plan on purchasing another peacoat soon, and rather like the look of the WWI pea coat. However, ive been having trouble locating one, or one like it. I was wondering if anyone knew where i could find one, or one of a similar style. Can't cost an arm and a leg, because i don't have much money...
You might look in thrift stores or on vintage websites like www.vintagetrends.com. You don't need to get one a size, up. They were made with the intention of being worn over a suit or sweater.

Go look at the local goodwill. Here, they have some good sport coats for 5$, and you can try them on right there and see how you like them.
