Akubra Campdraft brown

I'd like to get a mid to dark brown Campdraft style hat. Akubra doesn't make a CD in that colour.

What other hats are similar to the CD and come in brown?

There are differences between the Brown Campdraft and the RM (I have both) but they mostly have to do with the shape of the crown (taller and a little tapered in the RM) and the brim on the RM is fixed down in the front and back where the Camp Draft is a more traditional upturned flange that can be turned down in the front.

It's too bad they don't still make the "mid brown" Campdraft, I prefer it's shape to the RM. Perhaps you can find one on Ebay.

I can't believe they stopped making the mid brown. That seems like it would have been a popular color. I for one would have one.

What Akubra calls the "mid brown" is actually a dark brown like Andrew was asking about. I love the "Fawn" color like Johnny is suggesting. It's one of Akubra's best colors. The "taupe fawn" in the Campdraft is perhaps, their best color. Well maybe the bluegrass green. It's a toss up

Thanks guys. I've got a fawn Fed IV, Banjo & Stylemaster. I think a darker brown CD would be a better addition to my collection

the RM is a cool hat

pretty much as close to a CD as you will find unless you can track down an old brown OR ... but good luck with that

Thanks. I'll start looking for the RM. Neither EA or Hats by the 100 seems to have stock in my size (60). I might be in for a bit of a wait.

Anyone else remember the old days when you could custom order any Akubra hat in any colour you wanted. Only did that once with the Down Under. Black was not an offered colour. Only time you had a three month wait.

Not helpful, just saying.
Maybe we should start bugging a vendor to offer a Campdraft in brown. That's how we got the bluegrass green after all. But what brown would it be? Tanbark brown? Loden?

I have a Mid-Brown CD & like it very much. I like a darker brown that appears to have some red undertones.

Among my favorites to appear on this forum TJ's Resistol is probably my #1 favorite. He has turned this into a beautiful hat & nobody does a better job of it:

The colors are a little washed out here. They are both a very rich brown.

Here is the R M Williams first as received and without flash and then as reshaped with a flash washing out some of the richness of the brown.

This allows you to see how the light plays with this hat.
