This thread is for us to share experiences and opinions on garment construction, specifically, about details of a jacket/pant that you found most likely to get damaged. I recently started to notice this omnipresent tendency for ALL jackets with WELT POCKETS to rip at one or all of the four tiny corners of the pocket. Will post a photo to show what I mean. This weakness seems to be an inherent, age old weakness associated with welt pockets.

Outer sleeve - bicep area for me - a consequence of broad shoulders and narrow doorways with sharp protrusions - locks, brick edges etc.

The areas I get wear and tear on any jacket (leather or otherwise) tend to be arms (especially the elbows, where I tend to lean on stuff), and around the left hip (where I tend to carry a bag). In terms of actual damage that really matters to the extent of needing repair, it's always just wear to the liner along the lower back, towards the hem.
Nothing with pockets. Sometimes a tear in the welt comes from the original machinist's cut that has continued a little past where it should and gradually tears open.
I've known a few jackets to go in the collar where the skin oils of the neck can corrode the leather fibres. Especially if you wear t-shirts. A friend of mine has had two collars replaced - wore right through them.

Oooh yes. Mind you, the jacket's taken such a kicking over the years that you can't see where the original marks were. If it taught me a lesson, it's not to get upset about any particular distinctive marks as, given time, they'll fade in the overall look.

Looks like classic insect damage. Most of what we write off as moth damage though is actually from carpet beetles - they tend to leave actual holes, or at least deep divots, rather than 'grazing' like moths.
