I think they are worth trying. for the price a real solid work boot. If you don’t mind the more rounded toe that is. Compared to an iron ranger at 350 the ammo boots in brown cxl, lined, more solid build were just under 300 bucks. 20 week wait is no joke but still. Silvermans has some stock WL including the 178 in tan unlined and leather sole, but they are marking up some. Dundas has some i like the type 01 brown cxl in my size but i like a cap toe for my next pair and they are 100 usd more as mentioned before

I am sure you’re right about leather offerings. I am afraid, I‘m more of a lazy customer. I ordered both of my boots without specifying any specific leather options and while I kind of like my pair of 178 boots, the leathers nothing special. I also got the 268 and the leather was so bad, I gifted the boots to welfare.
With Dundas, they offer they’re leathers on a plate, so it takes guesswork out of ordering. But yeah, this kind of convenience comes at a price.
BTW: You‘re boots look absolutely spectacular!

Anyone have or have seen in person boots by Unsung? The company has a good back story and the boots look very nice however their otr price is about 25% more tha. Lofgren and their custom price is just below Role club. Sort of steep for a newer outfit without a track record and what would presumably be low resale value if they don’t work out,

When I look at the Flat Head new, I wouldn't think that they would be so cool.
I could imagine having engineers again. I had my engineer boots time 25 years ago ;-)

Size-wise, I got the Attractions a half size larger than the Flathead boots. For reference, I wear a size 7 (U.S.) in Iron Rangers, 7.5 in Converse Chuck Taylor's, and wear the Flathead in 7 and the Attractions in 7.5.
The Flathead is chromexcel which is much more supple than the Attractions horsehide which is very stiff at first. The Attractions' longer shaft and more rounded heel cup make it more difficult to don/doff but once on, they fit great.
The Flathead boots are very solid, I have not been gentle with them. They have been out on hikes and, despite being "tea-core" have been very slow to give up the black surface pigment. They are now starting to show the chocolate-colored core in high wear places after years of wear. The Attractions on the other hand are already starting to show brown tea-core in places after about 1 months of wear, which is much faster than the Flatheads.
I'm a big fan of the Flathead and certainly recommend these boots. I think the leather is much nicer on the Attractions but the Flatheads are more comfortable due to the shorter shaft working better with crew-length socks and the more supple leather used. They also use their own hardware which is a tier above the hardware used by Attractions. I really like engineer boots (obviously) and these are both great boots that I would recommend.

I have a pair of their engineer boots that I bought second hand. IMO the construction quality is excellent and is easily above Lofgren (which is factory made Goodyear welted). I’ve never handled Role Club but I’ve seen images and customer feedback that that are less than favorable so I feel like Unsung is probably better at least in terms of construction and finishing (Role Club may have the better engineer boot pattern but that’s subjective). Unsung is also excellent with communication and timeline which is a problem area for many other makers.

That contrast stitching on the upper is real purdy. Love the detail on back of the boot.
I was messaging truman boots online they are running four new machines for midsoling and finishing started this last week. Including a new machine like the video see link so it gets nice and evenly trimmed all the way around equidistant from the leather including at the heels. sure wish the PNW makers used this machine on all their block heel style boots instead of just eye balling and using a big sander machine. I asked about this when I saw this post from them
