Hello guys! I am glad to be part of this forum. I recently starting collecting vintage Mallory Fedora and Derby Hats. I have 4 so far in my collection.
Just a few questions if you guys don't mind.

Now the brand Mallory, is this a well known and good name? I started collecting Mallory's because I like their style and look.

Also, I can't seem to find the "proper" way to wear a hat. I have seen several pictures of people wearing Fedoras, and all different ways. The brim touching the ear, the brim an inch or so above the ear, the hat slightly crooked with one side touching the ear. Is there a right way, or just anyway you like?

And last one Is there anyway to wear a hat, and still look good, that is slightly to small for you?

I can't comment on the Mallory hats, but as far as that last question goes - you might try carrying a sign that says "Objects on head are larger than they appear"

Wear your hats comfortably And when people wear them crooked and tilted, it's all a matter of taste. And some hats might have a crooked cavanagh edge (like my cavanagh) which will look akward when worn straight, but will look awesome when worn crooked (like mine). And somtimes they'll look awesome tilted even if they're not crooked.

Hi Darek,
Wearing a hat is just a matter of personal style. If it is straight on your head and it touches your ears, it's too big. It should sit about a finger width above the ears. I normally tell people new to hat wearing to sit the hat straight on your head, then tilt to your dominant eye until you are comfortable with the look. This is for a fedora by the way. Since I am left handed, I am most comfortable with it tilted over my left eye. Just experiment with it until it feels right to you, sortof like wearing a tie..no bad choices.
The Mallory was a very fine hat maker in every respect. They tended to be a little fashion forward and tended to be more for the younger guy so they are usually on the sporty side. Good choice to start a collection with!!

First off, welcome to the Lounge, hope you enjoy your stay, lol. I always consider style when wearing one of my hats but don't forget comfort. Comfort is a big issue when it comes to wearing a fine hat. I guess the ideal way of wearing a fedora is finding a mix between wearing it with style and still be comfortable.:cool2:

Hello Darek

You should wear your hats in a fashion that first makes you look good ( just look in a mirror). And second, watch some old moveis, or look at the pics that Zohar has posted...or wherever you look on the web or other places.

You will see the look that your favorite actor has or some film you liked, it doesn't matter. Check out the balance of the hat, that is , the crown height, brim width, and style, vs. your build, height, face shape.

Some folks wear hats that look good on say, Edward G. Robinson, but they DON'T have the build. Time will prove your answer. The fun is in the learning.

Mallory made some great looking hats in its day, and they were very good quality. as long as they are pre-Stetson buy-out I'm sure they are very good quality.
