Just ordered this McGregor Raincoat online, I wasnt able to request a clearer image of the label so I looked up a similar one online. Since the package has not yet arrived, I havent checked it for union labels. Can anyone help me date this coat and maybe guess the material? Thank you everyone!
Hi. I just joined a few days ago after getting interested in wearing fedoras. I have learned a lot from lurking and reading here before joining.
I have collected a few older hats off the 'bay and one is a Dobbs that I suspect is not as old as I thought. I was thinking 60s. But the price on the...
...now I've made a new account to post this thread. I lived in Vietnam and have a couple of hats to boot, but I'm just a newbie and find troubles dating hats.
Recently I have purchase this Stetson fedora from Ebay (for $22).
It's look fairly new and come with box so it's a great deal for me...
from my little bit of research, these are not “serious” jackets though the earlier ones are favored higher than the mall variety. I found this today at a vintage mall, it was priced right, fits nice, made in USA and of goatskin. It has an EMAR labeled zipper and scovill snaps if that helps...
...closed.
Needless to say I have an intense appreciation of this iconic clothing from essentially my home town.
I know there have been label dating guides in the past, but many of them just say early/mid/late 1930s &40s.
I have been building a very sizable collection of Pre-WWII Woolrich...
I have 5 Biltmores including a Dobbs made by Biltmore. Just bought this one on eBay for $30. Anyone good at dating them? It's likely a later Canadian one I'm guessing.
This was my grandfather's hat, bought in Ann Owasso Michigan, tag on inside label says 14.95. Trying to find out information about it. Inside is kinda red/purple and what I've seen there all white?? The color is kinda green with a little acorn hat pin
Hello, would love to get some feedback/info on this leather jacket. I believe it’s from 40s-50s era possibly German? Has moleskin lining and an Ultra zipper. Couldn’t find a comparable after searching online for some time. Let me know if you have any knowledge or info. Thanks!
I stumbled upon this Bailey hat online and it called to me enough to take a chance. It's well-loved, dirty, and has some small stains, which are features, not bugs, as far as I'm concerned. It was $25, as well, which was also a feature. It's a bit big, but some foam fixed that.
Does anyone know...
...logo on the right lens in late 1982. So there was no BL on lenses before late 70s or there was a BL but not laser etched?
Any useful hint for dating coming from the position of BL writing? I see it horizontal, vertical, near the temples (mostly) but sometimes in the upper edge of the lenses...
British zips on foreign jackets and roughly dating Australian jackets.
A lot of you already know but some don't so don't assume a vintage jacket is made in England because of the zips.
Aero and lighting were the biggest British manufacturers and their zippers were widely exported to British...
I like old zippers. I think they are way cool and so I wanted to find out if there was an even more comprehensive and exact way to date talon zippers than the photo comparison I’ve seen posted here many times.
I recently noticed that on the bottom of the stopper box on my triple marked talon...
While we have some great info regarding trademarks here on the Fedora Lounge, I wanted to create a topic thread to discuss and document the age of BR & Resistol hats by, or in part by, liner logo using pictures of actual hats; a pictorial encyclopedia of sorts.
I'll start with a Resistol bowler...
Hello everyone,
I found this jacket in a trunk in my grandfather’s garage in 2012. It was in rough shape and the liner was completely deteriorated. I had it professionally restored and had the original tags sewn back onto the replaced liner. I believe it is the Cossack model and I was...
Hi all. I’ve got the opportunity to buy a size 46 Ralph Edwards G1 but I’m unsure of the age. Can any of you fellas ID it from the label and knits. I think it’s a 64 but want to confirm this. Any assistance is much appreciated.
Hey guys, picked up this rather charming jacket (possibly to sell). I am pretty good at dating vintage items, but leather isn't my forte. The general vibe is 60s hippie. But the collar isn't big a la 70s, and the buttons and label look 50s, in that 'Californian sportswear' kind of way. Is early...
Hi, anyone can help in dating and identifying this jacket? No label inside (maybe lost) only the care label remains that indicates as manufacturer Tripp NYC, a brand unknown to me and surely not high quality, brass scovill zippers and buttons. Maybe from the 70s?
Do you think it's horsehide or...
I’m looking for some help identifying the age of this leather jacket with a Zipp zipper. I’ve not been able to find an example of this type of zipper on any online photos. I was presuming the jacket was 70’s but I’m not so sure- definitely has an older feel with the lining and label. Any help...
