Goodwear / Diamond Collaboration is live... at intro price

Yep. Got nothing to do with the pattern. Aero (company) could have a problem with another manufacturer using the name "Aero" on one of their jackets. As I understand it, (and it has been a while since I read read about it,) the original "Aero" company that had the WW2 government contract to...

Goodwear / Diamond Collaboration is live... at intro price

And because Aero would have sued GW's butt if they had used the name "Aero". (That may have changed now with the collaboration.)

Goodwear / Diamond Collaboration is live... at intro price

If this is the same cowhide that Good Wear is offering...and I think it is...you can't tell the difference between it and a REALLY REALLY good horse hide. My most recent Good Wear is made from the new cow hide they got in not too long ago. It is a killer hide. I had originally spec'd the...

    A tale of 2 Dubows...GW and BK

John doesn't have the 1755 listed on his web site, but does offer it. I came across it from seeing photos of other folks' GW's. Here is a link to the GW jacket photo page showing some of the different jackets / contracts they have made over the years; http://www.goodwearleather.com/photos/ I...

    A tale of 2 Dubows...GW and BK

I live in the Bay Area, am very familiar with Johnson's. Have a jacket made by them. There is actually somebody a bit closer I use who is very good at leather jacket alterations.

    A tale of 2 Dubows...GW and BK

The leather on the BK is actually very nice. Not at all stiff, very nice hand. I believe it is it's weight that makes it look stiff. For me it really would be killer on some other style jacket.

    A-2 27752 Which One?

I own A2's by both makers. I can't remember the last time I grabbed one of my Eastman's heading out the door. Good Wear (John Chapman) custom makes each jacket to the customers specs. If something is off, you can return it. For me, this is key. I am by no means at the end of the bell curve...

    A tale of 2 Dubows...GW and BK

Here are some additional close up photos of both jackets. The GW photos can be seen by taking the link to the photos John sent me when he finished the jacket. The BK photos are photos I took copying those of the GW; http://www.goodwearleather.com/geoff_dubow1755/ Here are comparable photos of...

    A tale of 2 Dubows...GW and BK

Long story short....approx. 2 years ago I received a BK M422 whose fit/leather I was not satisfied with. BK contacted me and offered to exchange the M422 for an A2. I accepted. I received the A2 (this one) approx. 16 months later after a fair amount of confusion about when leathers would...

    A tale of 2 Dubows...GW and BK

One thing I've learned about A2's over the years is how subtle differences in cut/design/sizing can make huge differences in how they fit/look when worn. Sometimes you just have to wear/see jackets side by side to appreciate the differences. People get so focused on the leather when it's the...

    A tale of 2 Dubows...GW and BK

The GW is spot on. Fit/design is perfect. Really like the leather. Right weight, color, nice grain. The color of the knits/lining, the hardware, wouldn't change a thing. The BK is bulkier across the torso than I was hoping for, boxier sleeves. Arm length longer than I like....which appears to...

    A tale of 2 Dubows...GW and BK

A photo comparing the knits on my GW "Acme" (red knits), BK Dubow (ordered dark purple knits), and GW Dubow (dark purple knits); I'd call the BK knits red rather than dark purple. Also note different weave pattern between the knits GW is using vs BK.

    A tale of 2 Dubows...GW and BK

    About 6 months ago I received a new BK Dubow 1755, seal "VIctory Horse" leather, dark purple knits. Last week I received a new GW Dubow 1755, made with the new seal cowhide John has in, purple knits. Both jackets were "custom made", same measurements. Here are some photos. The GW first;

The waiting is the hardest part ....

The specs you send in at the time you order Good Wear are not locked in stone. Think of your initial order more as signing up for a place in the que. Right before he makes your jacket John contacts you to see if you have changed your mind about which contract/leather you want, and to double...

    A-2 Help anyone?

I own both Good Wear and Eastman A2's. I haven't gotten around to putting my Eastman's up for sale yet. As forum member CBI posted on the forum not too long ago; "A John Chapman (Good Wear) jacket is like a Hattori Honzo sword. Better get in line." John sews all his A2's himself. He...
