    The lining is exactly the same as what we used to call 'coastwatcher coats' that were ankle length leather issued to soldiers on winter submarine lookouts on the australian coastline in WW2..very common in the 70's, never see em now

    sitting next to a Stetson Whippet or a vintage Akubra it just looks different, I've bought sold and owned a LOT of hats in the last 40+ years and I never saw one exactly like it before, i thought it might be some obscure English style
