Just finished "A lesson in secrets" - the latest book in the Maisie Dobbs series by author Jacqueline Winspear.
I am now starting "Millions like us: women's lives in the second world war" by Virginia Nicholson.
I have read the "Are you a Jackie or a Marilyn?" it was an okay read. You should see if your local library has it (or if they can get it in for you) - a good way to save buying the book, plus if you really like it then you can buy it (that's what I usually do).
As for "Audrey style" I am in...
Merry Christmas everyone and many thanks for all the replies, much appreciated - in the end I opted for the Ita Buttrose "a guide to Australian etiquette" for my sisters gift. I think a more modern view would be more her thing - and I do love Ita!
For myself I ordered 2 books - one by Emily...

Here in Australia I have recently noticed a number of young girls/women dying their hair grey (colour similar of the previously posted Kelly Osbourne picture).
Before they used to bleach it white-blonde, now it is the grey.
My niece has informed me it is the 'thing' at the moment.
I would...
Since the 1920s and 30s as makeup women have been putting vaseline on their eyelids to make the eyes 'pop'.
I have always used vaseline on my lips - great stuff.
One after the other on ABC1 - Spicks and specks (funny bits show - very funny indeed); the IT crowd (extremely funny) and United states of Tara - GREAT tv shows.
