    Terms Which Have Disappeared

How about "speaking the Kings English"? I remember back in the late 70's, I applied for a position for which this was a requirement.

The Complete Guide to suits: 57 Rules of Style

I disagree, they are rules. It is your choice whether or not to follow or deviate from, as many do (and as do I on occasion). But the topic of the thread are Rules and these are none the less. ;)

The Complete Guide to suits: 57 Rules of Style

Rules! The items in this list are too vague to be rules. But the generation that follow this don't like rules, they like being vague. Rules are distinct like: A gentlemen's suit should fit Cuff shown is 1/4 to 1/2 an inch (3/4 to 1 inch for formal wear) When a gentlemen stands his jacket is...

General Attire and Actions of men and women

What I'm talking about are women like Olivia dehavilland, Ginger Rogers, Myrna Loy, Jean Arthur, Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman. They dressed and acted like women. And men like Clark Gable, James Stewart, Cary Grant, Gary Cooper, Humphrey Bogart. They dressed and acted like men. These folks...

General Attire and Actions of men and women

I don't really find Katharine Hepburn attractive. She was all skin and bones and covered in freckles. Probably why she spent most of her life dressed as a man.

General Attire and Actions of men and women

I think that men should dress in men's attire and act like men. I think that women should dress in womens attire and act like women. I think that this should be the case irregardless of vintage or generation. What say you!

The general decline in standards today

I always say excuse me or pardon me. I also make it a point to give way to someone tryingto get by. It's the right thing to do and it reallybothers me when others don't

What did you buy for yourself this Christmas?

A new clutch for my car... Unfortunately this was not planned so I had to shell out a chunk of money for which I wasn't expecting. The good news is I have a new clutch.

Whaddya think of 'Corcoran'-style jump boots?

Corcoran Jump Boot's. I absolutely love them. You can still by them new. The pair that I have has the zipper's on the sides so they're easier to take on and off. Very comfortable and great ankle support.

Fedora hats are rarely sexy - or so does she think...

Just another womans opinion. Notice the underlying theme is whether or not women like men's Fedoras. Typical female mentality, it's all about me. Well guess what darlin', my hat is about me not about you.

If you said you looked like one celebrity from the Golden Era...

Ok, I'll try now that I finally have a decent picture up... To date no one has ever told me I look like anyone, vintage or otherwise. What do you think?

Buscemi's White-tie Rig on Boardwalk Empire

I have not actually seen this show but his rig looks to be a turn of the century vintage and perhaps somewhat western which is typical of the long coat. I see this as completely plausible for 1920. Even today we all don't have the latest and greatest tuxedo's and I doubt if you could rent them...

Where does vintage begin and end for you?

Miss Hadley, Great pic. I love the look.

"Thirty Things that Need to Stage a Comeback"

I absolutely agree. Route 1, as an example, was the original route from the Northeast to the Southeast that ultimately was replaced by Interstate 95. Even today, in some places, you can see the remnants of failed Motor Lodges and family restaurants along the corridor. It is a shame because this...

Yes, right after Thanksgiving is when we start decorating for Christmas. That's when the Christmas CD's come out.
