    Fedora wearers and rude behavior

I've yet to hang out with any of the Fedora Lounge crowd so the only folks I happen upon that wear some variation of a Fedora are music artists, all of which, I'm happy to report, so far, have been exceedingly cool.

    Ladies with cigarettes

Sheesh!...I grew up on Tom & Jerry, Popeye, Bugs Bunny and Woody Woodpecker. I can't honestly say I was ever compelled to try smoking at that age. Smoking didn't really come to mind until high school where there was some peer pressure to smoke like the 'cool' guys and gals. Perhaps those cool...

    Ladies with cigarettes

Lady Day, I can't agree. To me there is a sense of style and suggestion of mystery attached to lit cigarettes in the 30s and 40s black & white films - though mind you, I lean heavily towards Film Noir and mystery films. It is, of course, all merely make believe, and in the theatre you can't...

    Ladies with cigarettes

But smoking is so iconic.... JazzBaby, have to agree. Smoking looks so cool and sexy in the old films and photo, but is gross to the max in the real world. I use cigarettes a lot in my portraits. They add so much atmosphere....of course, then I spend the next day coaxing said atmosphere...

    EXchange names for phone numbers

I grew up with a party-line.... Yeah, pretty acient.... Our phone number was JEfferson 7-1751. I grew up in Castro Valley, in the San Francisco east bay hills. Was recently given a late '40s / early '50s telephone. It's a beauty, and weighs several pounds. You could definitely...

Oscars - Return to Classic Hollywood

I'm not all that big a fan of the Oscars, but this time around, at least, they may be worth watching just for the stage design which will pay tribute to the glory days of the movie theater. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06058/661715-331.stm

    OK...I confess...

I haven't a stitch of vintage clothing....not even a Fedora and coat. I dig folks up constantly that do dress the 40s period for photo projects, but as I don't usually step in front of the camera I have not spent the time and money putting together an outfit for myself. So, like, where do I...

What's the next Golden Era goodie they'll revive?

Curvy dames. With the growing popularity of retro-pin up and rockabilly-hot rod, the doll with curves is queen. Today's stick figure gals just don't cut it.

Let's See Your Vintage Inspired Office!

Too true, too true. But I work with the folks that are interested in doing these kind of shoots and not all of them are purists, as you can see. Still, a great deal of fun and there are always a few truly rewarding images in the mix.
