While in Florence, Italy, I sucked it up and got myself a light tan (camel-colored) Borsalino. A little tax return gift to myself :).
Can't wait to wear it out...does this mean I get to put that "Borsalino Brotherhood" thing in my signature? :)
For WWII history buffs and such...
Starting at 12:41 a.m. tonight, 6th June (about 15 minutes from now, Tuesday night in Los Angeles), if you have XM Radio, the 40's channel will be replaying in "real-time" the original NBC broadcasts the day of the Normandy invasion for the next 40 hours.
Since we're polling a lot lately, thought I'd try this to a) see how the poll feature works, and b) see if people want a new forum for shoes.
"General Attire and Accouterments" doesn't really seem to encompass shoes. After all, we have "Hats" and "Jackets" and "Suits"...seems like "Shoes"...
Not sure if this the right forum or not, but here goes...
For Los Angeles-area loungers...Alden Trunk Show at Carroll and Company in Beverly Hills this Friday and Saturday!
Years ago, I was in Dallas and walked into a bar with (gasp) a ball cap on. The bartender politely said, "Sir, you need to take off your hat inside here." I noticed that most places I went to had a similar etiquette "rule" (and I should have known to do so, anyway). But it struck me as...
So what with it being St. Patrick's day and all, of course I had to wear my kilt for an evening out (yes, I know all about how it's not "authentic" and merely a Victorian something-or-other...but I do wear Duncan, which is at least an ancient Scottish name).
So I'm looking at my ghillie...
Didn't want to hijack the wedding/reception thread, but someone mentioned children running around making people trip, so I have to ask...
Do you think it's okay, or not okay, for children to attend weddings?
I'll let people answer then post my opinion. Since we'll be coming up on "the...
My new fedora arrived last week, and I wore it to work for the first time today...getting lots of positive compliments and appreciative glances!
It's not a hugely expensive one, a Stetson Chatham in "caribou" (grey), but I like it (I'm partial to the C-crowns at the moment, but can tell I'm...
Apologies if this was posted earlier (I've been on vacation and completely incommunicado, no phones, internet, TV, etc., for the last week and a half).
Looks like AE has a new spectator this spring...
Okay, thought I'd start a companion thread to the fountain pen one...I got a nice Waterman Phileas black w/ fine point for Christmas. My first *real* fountain pen. So far, I love it (but sometimes it doesn't write well on the coated, recycled copier-style paper that so many of our documents at...

Forget the condo towers. A 120-room Waldorf-Astoria hotel now is planned for the high-profile crossing of Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards in Beverly Hills. In the project, the adjacent Beverly Hilton will lose its Oasis Court and...
I'm getting ready to go to Yellowstone in February on one of my wildlife observing trips (I try to go there a couple of times a year...fantastic place, btw). I've been taking a journal the last few years to record observations, landscape diagrams, etc. I've just been using the fine point pens...
Sorry if this has been asked and answered, but I searched the forums and couldn't find quite the answers I'm hoping to find.
Couple of questions for y'all...
First, given that ties are so notoriously difficult to clean, how do you keep them clean in the first place? That is to say, how do...
Hey, folks,
This is probably a dumb newbie question, but here goes...
I'm just finding out about vintage-style clothing, don't really have any yet, but I'm intrigued. I dig the look of spectators, and would love to have a pair that I could wear occasionally to the office (where my usual...
