    Cast iron

i purchased a used nice iron wok at a Saturday market earlier this year for 50 Baht or about $USD 1.60. I learned later that the Thai script on it’s outer rim had an owners name and date 2441. 2441BE is 1898MCE. Shouldn’t have surprised me since iron is exceptionally long lasting and 119 years...

    The 80s, myth and reality?

I remember the 1970’s inflationary times finally subsiding by the mid to late 1980’s. Unfortunately the $USD was decimated by then. No more new $2700 Ford Mavericks on the dealers lot or 25 cent Buds on tap at the local watering holes.

    The 80s, myth and reality?

I’m not sure all major news organizations in the 1980’s were being duped. In part in retrospect, I can’t remember when mainstream news, meaning all news in the 1940’s and 50’s, wasn’t giving us the news that we were supposed to know. When I hear “fake news” now, I wonder where was everyone for...

Wearing white tie to a black tie event?

I wear black tie at black tie occasions but it would appear from what you say that you are attending an event in the states that is not black tie but some type of unusual aberration if those that attend are wearing anything from formal black tie to very informal attire. If that is the case you...
