    Rubber Raincoat

I have a very similar coat that was sold as a replica of German motorcycle dispatch riders coat from the 1940's. Some people may find them a little cumbersome to wear but for total weather protection they can't be bettered.

    Show Us Your OVERCOATS

Fully Belted Overcoat Rare in the UK too but spotted this on the Geives and Hawkes site. Looks fantastic but at that price!! Hopefully this could be the start of a return of such overcoats. http://www.gievesandhawkes.com/shop/tailoring/windsor-herringbone-overcoat.html Cheers

    Mackintosh, rain officers

Cordings Nice looking mackintosh from Cordings but still £180 more than the equivalent from Rainmac and I suspect it comes out of the same factory.

Trench Coat - the 'Ultimate' Thread!

I have to agree that it is becomming very popular to refer to any raincoat as a trench coat. Its all the featuress that Hal lists are what differentiates a trench coat from a rainicoat. Similarly, the term mack, or mackintosh is often used to describe a raincoat. The true, traditional mackintosh...

Trench Coat - the 'Ultimate' Thread!

I agree that two raincoats in the UK is not an extravagance. However all mine are double breasted but one has a zip out warm lining for for when it's too cold for just a raincoat. I use this one for serious rain too. It's a model by Aquascutum to their 'Bogart' design and was made to special...

Trench Coat - the 'Ultimate' Thread!

How do you wear your trench? I have for many years worn a trench coat for work over a suit. I recently and for the very first time had a (female) colleague comment that I always wore my coat all buttoned up and belted and thought it looked too ‘severe’ and I should try just knotting the belt or...

Trench Coat - the 'Ultimate' Thread!

Rainmac Hi, I found this page on an English specialist waterproof rainwear site. I think the trench coat looks fabulous and am thinking of ordering one. What do you experts think of it? Would you wear one? Opinions much appreciated. Cheers...

    Mackintosh, rain officers

The Rainmac offering is still expensive I agree but cheaper than Cordings for a coat that I think is as good but in a heavier cloth. I notice they do a riding mackintosh style coat in a material they call SBR. It looks as if it has the waterproofing on the outside surface. Does anyone have any...

    Mackintosh, rain officers

Cordings They Cording coats are nice but not as good as they used to be. I have two of their older riding mackintoshes. One in off white and one in what they call a putty colour. Both are in the heavyweight material that they no longer stock. They only sell a lighter weight version that...

Trench Coat - the 'Ultimate' Thread!

How to wear a trenchcoat Hi, Sorry it this subject has been done before but I'd like an up to date opinion on the matter of the perceived best type of trenchcoat and the proper way to wear it. I am thinking of making a purchase of a DB mackintosh type trenchcoat but I'm unsure of the correct...

Trench Coat - the 'Ultimate' Thread!

And another one And make that four! I've been watching this thread for a while but this is my first post here and I just had to chip in on this one. As one who owns several mackintoshes and trenchcoats, none would ever be worn without the belt properly buckled. As it was designed to be...
