Hey folks. I haven't posted much lately because I haven't worn hats much lately. With work and life and my general scruff, it's been tee shirts and messy hair almost daily for months.
I've been trying to afford a few things in pursuit of my musical endeavors too, so I figured I'd post a bunch...
Hey all, think I'm gonna sell my Dobbs bowler. It's a 7 1/8, maybe a small 7 1/4. The sweatband is toast so I don't really wanna check the label.
Super awesome felt for a 90 year old hat. I really dig the ribbon, although the binding has one or two rough spots.
Selling only because I don't...
Jimmy Stewart is my favorite style icon. I've got a similar tall, lanky physique, and broad shoulders.
Something I've noticed about him, and others, too, of course, are the insanely wide shoulder pads his suits had. I know it was the style post war, but many of these suits wouldn't pass the...
I've read before that any kind of sweater shouldn't be worn with a full suit, but rather a sport coat, or tweed.
However, I wear a combo of sweater and suit pretty frequently. Am I breaking a fashion rule? Does anyone else do this? What's your thoughts?
Money's tight, so I'm gonna attempt to sell a couple more hats.
First up is an old Brent. I like this hat and don't REALLY wanna sell it. But it doesn't get much head time. It's a little rough but has lots of life. Fairly lightweight. One notable hole in the back. Almost looks like it was from a...
Thinning the herd, fedoras that never make it on my head for various reasons. All have been stored at my grandmas and have a pretty hefty cigarette smell, and most need some TLC. I can part with any for 15 bucks each.
First up, English made Dobbs, 7 3/8, fits closer to a 7 1/4. Nice hat but...
Here's another from my friend's antique shop. Beautiful Hopkins Whippet style fedora. In very good shape, size 7 3/8 however it fit my head pretty well and I'm 7 1/4. It'd probably be mine if I wasnt broke haha... (sigh.)
I've got a Hopkins, in lesser shape, and it's a great hat.
Anyway, 60...
Considering selling my Deckard hat. It's just too big on me. Super sweet hat, and I'll be sad to see it go.
If possible I'd love to trade for a Fed IV or a vintage grey fedora in 7 1/4. So show me what you've got if you're interested.
Otherwise I want to try and get 130 for it, shipped.
Forgive me if this has been answered before, but to what extent do hats typically compensate the dimensions depending on the size of the hat?
For example, larger sizes would be taller and have wider brims.
I recently acquired a Dobbs Jet 707 which supposedly is to have a 1 7/8 inch brim, but...
A bit too small for me. They've definitely seen better days but they're structurally solid. Could use new insoles however. Not sure of the maker or the age, but seem to be pretty old. No size, but they feel like 10 1/2 to me, since I wear 11 1/2.
20 dollars shipped and they're yours.
There's been posts about making homburgs into fedoras, but what about the other way around? Could you potentially take a fedora with a fairly stingy brim and turn it into a homburg?
Tomorrow I'm heading to a friend's wedding reception.
Being the indecisive human I am, I'm debating whether to wear a fedora or a homburg.
Is one more appropriate than the other for a wedding? I know you're not supposed to "out-dress" the groom, and I feel like a homburg might do that. This...
This hat fits me better than any hat I've ever owned before but I'm a bit broke and not huge on stingy brims nor the belted band. Having did that, parting with this one is hard but I'd rather see it on the happy head of a fellow lounger than collecting dust.
The hat is a 7 1/4 size. Very...
For sale I've got a "Maddest Hatter " fedora size 7 1/2, fits more like a 7 3/8. It's got a periwinkle color to it. It's unlined and has a polyester-like cushioned sweatband. It's not a bad hat, but too big for my head and not really my color. Its in pretty excellent condition. I'd like to get...
At work, (goodwill) we got a Lembert fedora. I think size 6 3/4. Not a ton of info online that I can find about them. Can anyone enlighten me? And would anyone be interested in it?
It's been quite chilly despite being springtime. Like a fool, I left my cashmere overcoat where my roommate's dog could use it for a bathroom.
I'm not too savvy on bringing it to a drycleaner. It's cold NOW.
Any advice on cleaning cashmere to be worn within a day of doing so?
I'm selling a San Antonio , an OR clone, I scooped up an antique shop, despite the fact it's about 3 sizes too big! The size tag is gone and the production tag is so worn away, I believe it said 7 3/8, however it feels like a 7 1/2, maybe even 5/8. The hats definitely seen better days, it's got...
Alright, we're all familiar with these hats. This one is brown with a thin leather strip for a band.
It's got a cloth sweatband, 2 5/8 inch brim width, 4 inch crown. It's crushable wool felt, size small.
