Those are absolutely gorgeous! It's great to see a pair in that condition!
I have two pairs of those too. The other pair I had cropped to ankle height by a cobbler as I grew tired of the buckles, haha. Then I started to miss the buckles so I bought another pair! Too bad the second pair was in a...
Bought these Vintage boots off Ebay a week ago.
No date stamps, only stamps "Dolcian B742 7 17". They were sold as ww2 officer ammo boots but as there are no stamps to prove it I don't wan to market them as such.
They looked and were quite dirty. Luckily it was just plain dirt and they cleaned...
The resole job was done by Suutari J. Erving, a great cobbler and the only official place for Red Wing Shoe repair here in Finland. His Facebook and Instagram. He replaced the original plastic heel rand with leather, replaced the "carpet like filler" with proper cork filler and added 5,5mm...
Glad to hear my ramblings weren't utterly useless, haha! Those look really great! Damn I'm almost envious here!
If there is any downfall in veldtschoen construction this might me it. If the whole sole part is replaced it would be preferred that the cobbler would use the original stitching hole...
Grats! That sounds like a great deal! I too really hope those fit as they look gorgeous! Really blows my pair out of the water, haha. The pair will most likely be very stiff as they look unworn. The thick leather sole will take some time to break in.
The fit is quite generous. I use UK9/9,5 in sneakers(converse, Vans) and my Red Wings are UK8(Iron Rangers) and UK8,5(Postmans). My George Webbbs are UK8,5 and they fit well. I use them with thicker socks than the RWs.
Those Cheaneys and Webbs are going to see some rain, wet snow and occasional slush. Though they are on the dressier side of scale they'll both see mostly casual everyday use with jeans/chinos. I think the leather on both is quite weather resistant without any spesific products, just some Saphir...
While we're on the subject of veldtschoen here's my two other pairs.
Cheaney Pennines and Vintage Frank Wrights.
For me the veldtschoen construction is that something that makes shoes/boots special. There's some really gorgeous pairs posted in this thread.
Thanks! In my wall of text I mentioned them being re-heeled but I was thinking of another pair. On These the original leather heel was in surprisingly good shape considering the age. Nevertheless I got these re-heeled with rubber as I mean to wear them through the wetter part of the year.
First post and a wall of text, sorry!
A couple of months ago I bought these George Webb Veldtschoens and there isn't too much info about the shoe or the maker online.
Many of you seem to be quite familiar with vintage shoes and I was wondering if someone could help me age these shoes. They're...
