Catspaw
From what I understand they last forever, they also have a distinctive design. I used to like the old green dot and white dot soles myself. Ever seen them ? They last and last.

Catspaw...........
Mike I am pretty sure they do. If Catspaws are readily available still. I have not used them in years. If not Catspaw there are other great half soles he can out on for you. My cousins shop is in Ridgwood NJ, a short ride from NYC, it's Quality Shoe Repair,,,,,,,,, and it...
Soles
I noticed a mention of soles and cobblers. My uncles were/are in the shoe repair business here in NJ. it's hard to find a good shoemaker these days. Many shops send the work out to real shoemakers and do not do the work on site.
Soles,,, If you don;t like the leather sole you can...
Mason ??
Mason shoes used to be of good quality, I don't know about today. I did come across these.

Boots
Yes it's hard to get boots that are all leather today, they will always sneak a piece of plastic in there if they can. I believe the service shoes are of a darker color than you imagine, at least the ones I have seen are.. The thread on service shoes shows the more realistic color I...
Boots
I didn't see it mentioned, LL Bean has the Katahdin in the latest catalog. Seem like nice old style boots to me.
I had a pair of Red Wings in the mid 80's, I used them for work, wish I still had em now. Low boots, 5 or 6 inch I guess, 3 eyelets and 3 hooks, cool they were...
Go for it
Wear what you like and that's it. If they ask why the answer is because I like it. I agree the business world has gone way too casual. The office should be a place for at least jacket and tie
I have worked in the contruction business and trucking for 30 years, not a place to be...
Love this thread
Love it, !! I have been thinking about a pair of Western Boots, have not had a pair since the 80's. All the info you guys and gals have posted is great. I found a site not too long ago that listed heel shapes and heights. I am looking for a heel higher than a Roper but not 1.5...
Morphs
I am Lucky to be a Ectomorph, tall and thin. the most I would ever have to lose is 15#. Even so, we Ecto's get way out of shape and can feel it, not enjoyable. I have sympathy for the guys who need to drop some serious poundage. I know it is very, very difficult.

Cycling
Cycling, cycling, cycling, I can't take the impact of running anymore. Between my back, and knees forget it. I started out with a Hybrid Bike and am now riding a Roadbike. What a difference. Speed, Speed, need the speed. Use to hit the gym 5-6 days a week, but work prevents that...
Juicy
Fletch, The meat is cooked to perfection, not dry at all. never had more tender steak. The butter is to make it slide down I guess ^_^. I think the butter came about as each slice of meat is served on bread and the whole thing gets nice and buttery. One can never go wrong with alot of...
Beef
Nowadays these are held at Halls and catered in by the few who do cook real Beefsteak. Firemen or Cops may do there own. I have never really seen or heard of a Beefsteak at a Steakhouse.

trees
Thanks all, Well I do not see the relatives often so... hence me asking here since a shoemaker is a shoemaker not always a shoe fanatic... ^_^
yes I do see the reason, but what would, does happen to shoes without trees.

Trees
Thanks guys, The the ones my father had were beautiful wood woth slots in them and the wooden ball at the back of the flexable spring. I see alot of them now with the tree in the back as well as the toes. Differences??
My mothers family are, were, all shoemakers. My Grandfather, 3...
After reading the Show us your shoes thread I see all the shoes in trees.
I remember my Father having trees in all his shoes forever. Are they that important? Only very good shoes should have trees in them? I used Boot trees for a pair of Cowboys I used to have but have never used shoe trees...
Beef..........
I too read the Times article. Yes indeed the NY Metro area is the only place that these events occur. We here in NJ have Beefsteaks frequently. They are usually put on by politicians, fire and police depts, Elks and those kinds of organizations. It is an experience to attend...
