Yeah, the guys here essentially sold me on an Akubra and I couldn’t be more happy. For two years after I received my Fed IV it’s been rained on at least ten times, pulling traffic duty at my job. My Fed IV gets better with every rain.
Sam and I making faces and enjoying hats. She inherited my old wool that I unintentionally let shrink after a rain. Thinking of placing a pink or purple ribbon and bow on it for her.
Before I bought a Fed IV the folks on The Lounge helped me a ton, as did the good ladies at Hats Direct. I also took to YouTube to do research. Merwan has a couple of good vids on the Fed IV. I hope this link works:

Great photo, RJR. I’m curious as to how your Akubras hold up to the elements compared to your other ‘Indy’ hat(s). I’ve put my FED through a lot of (sometimes accidental) trials just to prove that it can take it. And it has - that sucker still looks new. I haven’t been caught in a downpour...
You guys are seriously making me want this color. Only problem is, this discussion leads me to believe that when I open the box at home and pull out my new hat, it might just be purple.
Is that the way it goes: each number corresponding to a movie installment? If so, I feel more than a little dumb for not realizing that by now. Good to know. Although, it is close to impossible to find a picture of a Fed or a Fed II.
