It's German and very nicely sized (27 in sleeves).

The fabric is structure-stripe (or self-striped) - pinstripes would suggest a different color.

Fastuni, do you think it's 30s? Or rather 50s?

Looks perfectly 30's-40's to me. The lapels, button stance and trouser details don't suggest 50's to me.

Thanks. I thought the thin waistband and absence of suspender buttons as well as the padded shoulders would point to a later date.

Looks like the waist was let out at some point, don't you think?

Of course it was possibly made in the early 50's - but in a conservative late-30's to 40's manner.
The waist was definitely let out - one can see the seam traces in the waist lining.

Too bad it is black. Not a color that suits me well. With a few alterations it would probably work for me.
