This hat is amazing. The only issue is the sweat pulling from the front of the hat. The liner, and felt are pristine. NO mothing that I could find.

The felt is a long-hair heather finish with flecks of black and grey felt with a small undertone hint of green. A very nice hat indeed. The sweatband was replaced at some in it's life, probally during the 30's. Behind the sweat, and covered by the liner is a peice of tape (same as what is holding the liner to the hat) with the numbers "4743".

Open Crown: 6"
Brim: 2 1/2"
Ribbon: 2"

I am guesstimating it to be a 7 1/4, maybe even bigger. I wear a 7 1/8 - 7 1/4, and this hat fits loose on my noggin.

I can't measure the total circumference, I have issues with that, so here are the length and width of the sweat.

Length: 7 5/8"
Width: 6 1/2"

I am looking for pre-30s hats. My size is 7 1/8 - 7 1/4.

Nice one. Just out of interest, what puts it to pre-'25?

They won a fifth Grand Prize in 1925, later liners say Cinq Grands Prix and add 1925 award--could still be from 1925-6 depending upon when new liners were fitted.

Size measures as a slightly wide oval 7-1/8 according to your #'s and a 22-1/4" Circ. far too short for a 7-1/4.

I see, thanks Robert. My mistake, it just feels way larger than that, as I have a 7 1/4 Penn-craft, that fits better. This one rides on my ears, and I am able to put my a finger between the sweat and my head.
