Minnesota_Jones, I assume, since you live in the Cities (I'm in St. Paul), that you've ridden on the Minnesota Zephyr (http://www.minnesotazephyr.com). It's been a few years since I've been and it was with my wife's company, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
For those who haven't been or heard of it, it's a nice dinner in the dining car, while the "Zephyr Cabaret" sings hits from the 40's and 50's. The train travels a few miles and back again.
It's definitely a worthwhile evening if you're ever in the neighborhood. Now that I mention it, I may need to book an evening of my own sometime soon.
