Just watched Miller's Crossing. It's as if the hats were the star of the show.
Here is Johnny in the woods getting ready to off someone:

My favorite line:
"Where's Leo?
If I tell you how do I know you won't kill me?
Because if you told me and I killed ya ,
I wouldn't get to kill ya then. Where's Leo?"

My all time hat movie has to be "Public Enemy w/ James Gagney from 1931. Here's a couple of stills from it :
For you Bowler/Derby folks:

Cagney had the most intimidating face. There are stills of him that are actually scary, especially when he was young.

What a great, great talent!

He could turn around and just break your heart ... tender, emotional, funny ... all wrapped up in one

And he could wear a hat well, too

I just got home and turned on TCM. They are showing "The Killers" with Edmund O'Brien, Ava Gardner and Burt Lancaster. It is a KILLER of a hat movie. There is a scene where they show a birds eye view of the employees of a hat factory going through the gate. Probably 100 hats and you can see all the creases! The rest of the movie has lots of hats and lots of tilts. Awesome hat flick. It was made in 1946.

I saw much of that but missed the hats. Will have to catch it again.

The Quick and the Dead. Sharon Stone, Leonardo DeCaprio (The Kidd) and Gene Hackman.

I recognized the bar and a couple of the other buildings and the cemetary the movie was filmed in. They still stand today and are the real McKoy.
