What are your favorite quotes about hats?

I am curious if anyone has any favorite quotations about hats, specifically. I will start off with a ridiculous and a sublime.

"Oh, this is the worst lookin' hat I ever saw. You buy a hat like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup. Oh, it looks good on you though!"

Al Czervik (Rodney Dangerfield), Caddyshack

"There are very few moments in a man's existence when he
experiences so much ludicrous distress, or meets with so little
charitable commiseration, as when he is in pursuit of his own hat."

Charles Dickens, The Pickwick Papers

I look forward to hearing what yours are - it seems a potentially rich field.

"It doesn't matter whether or not you have a head, you must wear the right sort of hat" - Kazantzakis

Bob: Hats. Okay? Hats. If I ever see a hat on a bed in this house, man, like you'll never see me again. I'm gone.
Diane: That makes two of us.
Nadine: Why a hat?
Bob: Because that's just the way it is, sweetie.

A new hat everyday

"Elke dag een nieuwe hoed" (or: A new hat everyday") is the titel of a poetical song about living a grand life recorded by the Dutch bluesrock group De Dijk in the early 1980s. This line accurately expresses how I feel about choosing a fedora from my collection when I leave home in the morning.

That sounds like it ought to be chiseled in stone somewhere hereabouts as the official motto of the Fedora Lounge!

Do you remember Ruth Lyons?

A classic radio and television personality of the 1930s, 40s and 50s . . . some say she invented the talk show . . .

She was famous for ad-libbing commercials . . .
My favorite:
In the 1930s she was talking about a sale of Straw Hats at a local department store . . . her quote:

"With prices this low, you can run them through your mule, and put them on your garden . . . " ;)

I like the phrase, "All hat, no cattle." because very few people around here know what it means. My prepared response to this accusation is, "I may be mostly hat, but don't make me break out the cattle."

I never knew that Sid was that particular about his appearance.

“The band broke up because I couldn't bear Rotten anymore because he was an embarrassment with his silly hats and his, like, shabby, dirty, nasty looking appearance.”

Here's another one.

"I began wearing hats as a young lawyer because it helped me to establish my professional identity. Before that, whenever I was at a meeting, someone would ask me to get coffee."

Yes the culture has changed. We will never see fedoras homburgs etc. as common as they once were. Alot of things have changed. Used to be a man said what he meant and meant what he said. A simple handshake could be trusted, and a mans word meant something. I am glad though there are still some decent people around with integrity and values.
