Goofy, not at all, very classic, fits right in with us here at the lounge, welcome to the group, it looks to me that will fit right in perfectly. Keep up with the photos my friend, you really remind me of those golden era newspaperman, I can see them now, all of those great films of the past, ah, great stuff. Great pic!

Quigley Brown, very nice photo! I like it! It looks like a 1940's color photo! Welcome to the Fedora Lounge!

I need to take some photos of my self like that! Man, that is just cool!

Root,

PS. The bow tie is perfect! Clip on?

Goodness! I wasn't expecting all these responses. Thanks!

Now to answer all those questions:

1. The hat's nothing fancy...a Towncraft, perfect condition, size 7, probably beaver. By the width of the brim I'd say it's early to mid 1950s. I paid a dollar for it at a Salvation Army store back in Iowa (my home state).

2. The camera is a Speed Graphic 2 1/4 x 3 1/4, the little brother of the work horse 4 x 5. It's in good working condition, but I have yet to use it.

2. Yup. It's a clip-on. I have dozens of them...I also have a bunch of the ones you tie, but I haven't mastered that skill yet. I just wear them for fun...like for my photo when I renew my drivers license.

The picture was easy to take using my little digital camera. I have small portable studio lighting kit (using the soft standby bulbs, not the strobes). I just hung a black sheet on the wall...put the camera on a tripod, turned off its flash and set the self timer. Then I played around with the image using Photoshop...toning down the color and such. You guys could do that.

Well, I hope to contribute some more to this forum. Looks like a fun site.

Bow Tie:

They can be some what hard at first to tie, but after you get it down, it's not so bad. All the bow ties I have in my collection are the ones you need to tie your self.

Clip on ties are very cool and some of them are very nice! I can't seem to find many that are adult sized though. Most I find are for kids.

Photoshop is what I use to age photos and such. I can add vintage cars to the background of photos too! Like these here.

Enjoy.

PS first is the photo before and the second is after I Photoshoped it.

Well Fisk, it's like this... Earlier, Matt posted a reply and it doubled it. Two replies that said the same thing. So, therefore, and echo! But, since then he fixed it. So, I now look stupid.LOL

Silly me,

Root.

PS. Thanks for the complement.;)
