Hi Everyone,

I haven't had much luck in obtaining hats on Ebay at a reasonable price, so I have been watching garage sales and I picked up 2 hats today.

The first is a Pilgrim homburg with the original box, originally i thought it was a bowler, but i saw the bash when I got it home. They wanted $50 and i got them down to $25, they said it was only worn once and then went into storage, from the condition I believe it.

The second hat was sort of thrown off to the side like selling it was an afterthought, the gentleman explained to me " that's just my old hunting and fishing hat I bought in the 60's". I looked at the interior and the label on the crown is gone but the hatband says Akubra Digger Eddie Bauer Seattle. I'm giving it a good wash and gentle stretch, that's why the color looks so dark.

Can anyone give me a guesstimate on age the age of these hats?

I wanted to post pix but I can't figure out how to do it or I don't have access to that yet?

Goes to show that sometimes even a blind squirrel can find an acorn.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I'll respond to your PM here, in order to bump the thread up, in hopes that others can help. I'm afraid I'm not the guy to ask, was just pointing out that pics would be needed for others to help. The Pilgrim Homburg looks to be in new condition, very very nice. I've no knowledge of the company myself. Getting info on them and when they operated would be one facet of getting to when it was made. Another may be to research the retailer if the name is in the sweatband as it often is. Any other tags (some may be found under the sweatband if you carefully look there) may also be helpful, including any union emblems that may be there.

The fishing/hunting hat is obviously well used, but we don't have a view of the inside of that one. That may be helpful there, at least to know the manufacturer and any info found in there. HTH, hopefully someone else will add some info.
