Could the "n" have morphed into an "m" with wear?

Thanks to the "PACKARD" leather dressing.

Must admit, I always get a bit nervous when I see somebody comment on how frequently they have applied some kind of "dressing", "treatment" or "protection" to a jacket. I've seen a few "over-lubed" jackets that were "loved to death".
