In the Market for a New Hat.

Hi all,

I've been trying to save up a little money for a new hat. I have quite a few fedoras, but none of them are of the thin-ribbon variety.

I'm thinking something along the lines of a Stratoliner or an Open Road. I'm not the type of guy who has to have that particular brand. I'm open to anything similar to that.

If anybody has any suggestions or knows of anything available in a 7 5/8, I'd love to get one. Also interested in learning a little more about it. I'm no hat expert, just like wearing them.

I know I'm in the right place for help with such a request and thank you all for your time and effort.

Thanks,

-Tom

Tom,

I agree with RBH. Those OR Biltmores look really nice and you can't beat a CD. I frequently see thin ribbons on Ebay that aren't the highly sought Stetsons, and you can get those for reasonable prices. The hardest part is the size you need.

For what its worth, I have been wearing a new Stratoliner for several months. It gets more use than any other hat. The wide brim shades and keeps the rain away from my face.

Love the Camp Drafts. I would like to try on a modern Start before buying one. Maybe I will sneak across the border to Detroit the next time I am in Windsor and visit Henry the Hatter. Been there once and it was an easy commute through the tunnel.

Really like the green, especially because of the limited edition.

If the one available in the ad you posted, RBH, is still available, I'd be very interested. I hope that he still has it. I had seen that ad before and figured it made it to the eBay and was long gone.

Agree with RBH on the Campdraft

Hello Tom, the Akubra Campdraft can't be beat if you're looking for a wide brim, thin ribbon, tall crown. One of my Campdrafts is my daily go to hat just about every time I step outside the house, unless I'm going to mow grass or go to the garden. Like RBH said, contact Everything Austrailian, and I'll add contact the nice folks at the Hattery at hatsdirect.com I'm not affiliated with either, but I'm a very satisfied customer of both. Take care and I wish you the best with your search.
