Is this quartermaster a-2 made of chrome-tanned leather by any chance?

For the kind of money one spends on these jackets, you should be able to be 100% happy... or be able to return/ exchange it.
IMO it looks good, but needs more length, going up a size will also widen it and droop the shoulders... ;-(
I guess its you-get-what-you-get-off-the-bargain-rack, you could be super lucky or incur sleepless nights worrying about the various issues.
Perhaps, if you can fork out a bit more cash, a lengthened 15142 (I believe the QM 18775 are not 'tweak-able'...? may be wrong)... or as Jan says, a lengthened Bronco!
Unlike those boys in 1942, we have the luxury of tweaking a jacket to find the perfect fit. (and paying for the privilege ;-)
