Very very nice. Clearly British. We should have a single thread to put all vintage interior renderings. Retro Renovation has a nice bunch of them, and there are other sites that provide images from the era.

And it looks like every room has a fireplace, even the nursery.
It does look like that.
I suppose that's not the same house. If it was, well.. it'll just be strange, no? :D

Nice scan.
Thank you, sir.
(And I thank the one who scanned it; 'cause I've just took the liberty of posting it for everyone's enjoyement) :thumb:

Those images a very reminiscent of my parents old house [1940's], which was a tied-to-the-job property with my fathers employment... that had fireplaces in every room, but we never used the open fires in the bedrooms. We had a Rayburn range in the sitting/dining room, which was wonderful, as both heating and a cooker; which my mother used all the time... it was the only warm room in the house, and we rarely used the main living room, apart from special days, such as Christmas. My bedroom could get so cold in the winter, that I would have ice on the inside of my window... my kids don't have a clue, in their centrally heated room :)

Yes, I remember ice on the inside of windows as we only had fires downstairs.
It was terrifying on the occasions that it would melt slightly around midday and fall to the ground with a CRASH.

Kids nowadays! :p
(you should send them to spend the winter in an old house.. they'll learn to appreciate the modern commodity of life) :D

Gruesome memories coming my way.. hugging the tile-stove and hoping it was not MY turn to get the firewood. :target:
