These were probably no pet dogs but work dogs. Think huskies and malamutes, not poodles.

Spring is coming, it will probably stop snowing in May or June at the latest. One of my old school friends is living in Canada now. He is a carpenter making housing for oil sands workers in the far north (up above Grand Prairie, Alberta?). He said it's not much fun trying to work outdoors! He sent me a Xmas card with the words 'Let it snow' on the front. He'd written inside 'for god's sake make it stop snowing!' He needs a dog skin coat.
The gulf stream is a nice thing to haveSpring is coming, it will probably stop snowing in May or June at the latest.
What kills me is, he is on about the same latitude as Newcastle upon Tyne. Where I live (Cobourg Ontario) is the same latitude as Monaco. Ottawa which dukes it out with Moscow for the world's coldest national capital, is on the same latitude as Venice. What a ripoff. Where's this global warming they keep promising?
