Wow-- Josh's hat is really superb too. I don't look good in a boater, plus seem to have my fingers in way too much at the moment, but someone should take advantage of that.

Flaunting the New Hamphire law that bans boaters in the state.

This one (which my lawyer will convince the jury I only wore on the deck) is a Knox Premier.

Alan, yes the one Josh was selling is a great hat, but I can't have too many "deck only" models. :D

Hi

I had a pretty good visit in Fort Smith. I'll definitely hit the Fort Smith Museum across from the Gallows. I'd have stayed longer, but I was only about half way to where I was going. I'll have more pictures later. The new hot dog place (used to be a cart) next to the Army Surplus store wasn't too bad. Not great, but decent.

Nick's BBQ in Carlisle was really good.

Loving the vacation photos AL - and the tight editing, which I'm guessing must be quite a challenge in such exotic surrounds. Keep 'em coming!

Appreciate your kind comments, Alan. I know you would understand just how arduous a task it is to edit photos, especially when you are around such photogenic landscapes and subjects(I am referring here to the beautiful people of Taiwan, of course). But for this thread it is much easier to pick out a few photos of myself for the day. The real challenge will be to present a cogent and concise photo report for the FEDORAS AFIELD thread. :)

Very lovely Panama boater, Alan, a true rarity, and looks great as well!

Manfred, Richard, and Al--thank you all for you recent comments about the Mallory. Nice hats everyone, today--Al, Alan, Andy, David, case, gt, hatophile, Joao, and Richard. I'm really enjoying the travel photos, Al. Thank you.

Thank you! Fine, fine pair of lids from yesterday.

Thanks, Richard!

Al, impressing photos as always. Are there many people who wear a hat in Taipei?

And as always, a sincere thanks for your kind words, my friend! Lots of hat wearers in Taipei...just not very many who wear or appreciate the wide-brimmed hats we all have a fondness for. Many young ladies, in particular, and some young men, wear all manner of straw hats...with short brims. Mature ladies and gents generally sport variations of the Tilley, for practical reasons.

Chinese women especially prize a fair complexion. Protection from the sun and hat wearing seems to be second nature with people of all walks of life here, from the vegetable and fish merchants at the morning market, to the retirees practicing their morning tai-chi at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Park, to the fashionistas shopping at the upscale shopping complexes, hats and hat wearers abound.

Love your Mayser Parabuntal. That looks like a nice wide brim, too.

Cool photos, Al and the new Montecristi looks splendid.

VS/Optimo Dualist for me this morning in a somewhat less exotic location.

It's finally uncomfortably warm in Cleveland (low 90s). I spend most days inside, as I work from home. It's often that I'll go an entire month before re-filling the gas-tank in my car.

This morning I'm wearing my Australia market Akubra Fedora.

Love the Taiwan photos Delectans. Some day I'll make it to that side of the world...

Orangegrad: The proportions of the Akubra Fedora fit your face size/shape well.

I notice a lot of straws and Panamas as I'd expect for this time of year. If your weather is anything like mine here in Cleveland, you never know when a thunderstorm will strike. It happened to me several years ago when we were dropping our daughter off at college. Quite the downpour - and nowhere to hide. Really made a mess of a Cuenca Panama. Do you folks not have rain where you live? We're as likely as not to have afternoon storms any day here along the Great Lakes, making wearing a straw something of a risk. I don't think I'd ever purchase an expensive Montecristi for that reason alone.

Portis tissue looks great!

David. I think the boater looks swell, though the Dualist is a tough act to precede. That VS is a rare real world example of making a silk purse out of a sow's ear, no?

Andy, the handsome bolo dresses up that Akubra portrait nicely.

Going to be hot and steamy today in Central Ohio with the heat index reaching just above 100 degrees...so for my errands this morning I'm wearing my linen Stetson Gilchrist, (in the more traditional newsboy style)...You guys are looking great today...Orangegrad I love the Akubra!...

T Jones - I own only one 8 panel and it's way too much hat for me. My face is too narrow for it. I'm wondering how I'd look in something like what you're wearing. A linen cap just makes so much sense in this kind of heat we're having.
