It's just how unlined leather works. It's simple. It is unfinished...rough. The suede side against your body or clothing makes it difficult to get off and on plus this roughout absorbs any sweat and therefore odors. It's hard to get out of the raw side of leather. A lining makes all the difference in the world. Maybe 'real' racing shirts were like this on the track. Don't know. Don't race on a track. Didn't start riding until around '64. My first leather shirt was unlined and lasted about a season and a half before it became unwearable/unbearable. Next one was lined which put a barrier against the super absorbent sueded side. Just my experience. Your's may differ.

Some quick photos of two of Dave's J100's, in black steerhide and brown HH;
The black is brand new.

I liked the brown leather so much when I found out Good Wear had a set stored away I asked John to make my A2 Monarch out of it. Turned out great.
Given some wear I think the black will end up breaking in quite nicely too. Thicker leather than the brown. Nice hand considering it's thickness. Comfortable. Been wearing it around as much as possible the past few weeks. A winner.

Around here folks typically think of Aero's full weight FQHH...which is tank like....as the only weight out there.
( I happen to like it a lot when used on certain designs...really molds to your body after some break in/moistening.)
There are different weights of FQHH out there.
I'm pretty sure the Vermont Espresso is also made from FQHH.
This is much lighter than Aero's full weight FQHH, but still very substantial. I'm going to guess coming in at around 1.1-1.2 mm. Works perfectly on an A2 design.
Very soft hand, even more so with aging. No break in required to be perfectly comfortable.
When I last checked, Dave did not have any on hand.
If it's something you are really interested in it may be worth asking whoever is making your jacket if they can get some from Horween.
I understand Horween is still producing it but has raised the price a fair amount.

Yeah, I know.
When new, my full weight FQHH Aero's have been relatively stiff...but no more so than a jacket made with leather designed for motorcycle use.
And, after a wee bit of a soaking and wearing to conform it to my body, they are some of the most comfortable leather jackets I own.

I found FQHH to be fairly intense to wear for the first maybe six months but that was when the jacket was shiny and very rigid. I was putting the baby's car seat in the other day and I was crouched over in the back seat fiddling around with the straps and all that when it struck me how comfy and how much ease of movement I had. So now it's been put through the ringer it has conformed to my body shape and fits..... well, the baseball glove analogy seems appropriate.
