Owned 5 Aero ones all bought on ebay or through VLJ

Brown FQHH 44" - 1999 and the heaviest jacket I have ever owned
Black FQHH 44" -1999
Black Heavy Steer 42" - 2000
Brown Heavy Steer 42" - late 1990's
Cordovan FQHH 42" - early noughties

.. 2 Thunder Bay ( Aero's lower end brand)

Tan Steer 44" - leate 90's / early noughties
Black Steer 42" - same as above

Also had a couple of Sam Walker VDR copies ( sold as Aero made on fleabay but weren't . .the cheaper leather was the giveaway .. great construction though) and now an AL Lavant Burgundy CXL Steer 44" ( which is a very similar pattern albeit about 1 size smaller size for size )

AMAZING jackets ..... boxy fit, dressy or casual ..... buttons can be a real pain to do up till they break in ..... tartan lining is more than heavy enough ( I find the Alpaca a bit itchy with just a shirt underneath) ..... what else ....... inside pockets are mounted in the lining.

Overall one of Aero's best jackets IMHO but not really a 1930's / or even 40's look.

There are some pics of some of mine on here ..... I currently only have one Aero 42" in black FQHH and the AL Lavant ( which isn't a VDR but near as hell and slightly slimmer fitting ) again there are pics on here of it.

It's more a 60s look, I think. Quite a cool, understated design.

]Definitely fifties/sixties. Based on the car coat used by Paddy Hopkirk and co in the Monte Carlo rallies of the early sixties supposedly. Though I've never seen a picture of any of the MIni Cooper team wearing one.

Vast and bulbous. Not fitted. Not stylish. Nice coat and I like mine a lot.

FQHH size 44. They're sized to fit a jacket underneath like the Barnstormer is. So if you don't want to best size down one.

Do they do the lining sewn at the hem, or is it a free hanging lining? Since it's a long jacket, sitting on it might be a concern if it's sewn to the hem like their shorter jackets. Thoughts?

My two Stockmans are similar, with only the patch pockets and width being the obvious differences. The lining on that is sown in, but it's certainly not a concern.

As for style, it's my go-to jacket, as it's so simple it goes with anything.

It's not so long as a Barnstormer is meant to be, and it's sewn. The free hanging lining on the Barnstormer never worked for me. I had a shearling lined one and the cord hung below the leather at the back and its inside edge started to fray in a week and showed when I sat down wearing it.

I was told several different reasons why it was made that way including ease of changing buttons, but I insisted on sending it back and having the seam sewn properly. I had no problems sitting with it then at all.
