Horween Chromexcel Steer

Do Alexander Leathers and Aero use the same Horween chromexcel Steer? Colour? Thickness?

Yes and No.... the grade and materials are the same (CXL Steerhide) ... but the colours are subtley different in anything other than Black. Details as far as I am aware are as follows :

Grade - CXL Steerhide ( this has a std. graded thickness between 1.5 and 3oz ( from Nick at Horween))

Aero Colours

Black, Brown and Cordovan

Alexanders Colours

Black, Havanah Brown and Burgundy

In my experience the colour pallate is a little variable with both the browns and the Cordovan / Burgundy's varying from very dark to quite light in each colour depending on the batch. They are ALL, however, very nice leathers.

In addition, both offer, from time to time, special CXL colourways and weights .. but the above are the std. colours for CXL as far as I'm aware.

Thx for the info. Alexanders is sending me some swatches. I'll see if I can get some from aero as well. It would be great to compare them in person. From what I've seen on here the brown cxl horween aero uses looks great!
